Napoli have knocked back approaches from two Premier League clubs and a Saudi Pro League side for Scott McTominay, with the club moving simultaneously to offer the Scotland international an extended contract through to 2030.

The 29-year-old Scotland midfielder joined Napoli from Manchester United in the summer of 2024 for around £25 million and won the Serie A MVP award in his debut season, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists in 34 appearances as the club won the Scudetto.

This season he has continued to impress, registering seven goals and three assists in 25 league appearances despite missing a period with a tendon injury, as Napoli finish second behind Inter Milan.

Tuttosport reported that two Premier League clubs and a Saudi club had contacted Napoli to test their position. The club rejected all three enquiries without hesitation. McTominay is currently contracted until June 2028, but Napoli are pushing to extend that deal by a further two years, with a significant salary increase attached. The club views him as a cornerstone of their project beyond the current cycle.

McTominay has been clear throughout about his own intentions.

"My agent has not communicated with anyone regarding my future. He only speaks with me and with the club," he told Corriere dello Sport earlier this year.

"I am extremely happy here and, as far as I am concerned, I am a Napoli player. The future is very important and I could see myself at Napoli for a long time."

Napoli director Leonardo Giammarioli told Mediaset in March that the club had not received formal offers, adding that McTominay was visibly settled and that the club had no intention of selling. Manchester United retain a ten per cent sell-on clause from the original transfer, meaning any future departure would generate a fee for Old Trafford regardless of who bids.

McTominay has scored 27 goals and provided ten assists in 79 competitive appearances since arriving in Naples.

Napoli want more of the same. The Premier League will have to wait.
