Scott McTominay’s impact at Napoli has been so strong that club president Aurelio De Laurentiis now believes the midfielder could even have a future in the film industry.

The Scotland international has thrived since joining Napoli from Manchester United in 2024, quickly becoming one of the most influential players in Serie A.

After a stunning debut campaign that delivered the league title and the division’s MVP award, McTominay has continued his form into the current season, contributing goals and leadership as Napoli remain in the title race.

His performances have not only impressed on the pitch, but also off it, catching the eye of De Laurentiis — a long-time film producer alongside his role as Napoli president.

Speaking about the midfielder, De Laurentiis highlighted both his personality and presence as traits that could translate beyond football.

“Scott is a real Scotland man, Scottish man,” he said.

“He is like an actor - very elegant, very serious.”

De Laurentiis went further in his praise, emphasising McTominay’s character and intelligence as key qualities that set him apart from many players he has encountered.

“He's a friend, he's a good boy and has a certain kind of culture [that] is very good,” he added.

“There are some you don't have an exchange [with]. With him, you can have an exchange. He is fantastic.”

Having overseen Napoli for more than two decades, De Laurentiis has worked with countless players, but he believes McTominay possesses something unique.

“I met a lot of [players] during these 22 years [at Napoli]. You can imagine how many people I found and Scott has a big personality.”

“He can be an actor.”

Despite the glowing endorsement, the Napoli president made it clear that any potential Hollywood ambitions will have to wait.

With Napoli battling for another Serie A title, McTominay remains a crucial figure in the team’s ambitions this season.

“Leave him to play for Napoli. It's better. We need him.”

For now, McTominay’s stage remains the football pitch — but if De Laurentiis is to be believed, a second career in front of the camera could one day be calling.
