Napoli's summer transfer business starts with departures, not arrivals. The line set out by president Aurelio De Laurentiis is clear: before any new arrivals for Allegri, the club must first trim a squad that has swollen to 47 players. Sporting director Giovanni Manna is already working to find new homes for the many players either returning from loan spells or otherwise set to leave.
Among the biggest names on the list is Milinkovic-Savic. Signed just a year ago for around โฌ21million and a regular starter last season, the goalkeeper is now among the leading candidates to depart, with Napoli understood to be willing to let him go for around โฌ15million, well below their initial outlay, as Besiktas, who had drawn interest from Vincenzo Italiano, and Hull City both make contact over a potential deal.
Alessio Zerbin is also close to a fresh departure after returning from his loan spell at Cremonese, with the winger awaiting the outcome of talks with Frosinone, who are hoping to secure him for another season in Serie A. Hubert Turi has already settled his future, and is set to join Pineto on a free transfer once his Napoli contract comes to an end.
The list of players for whom Manna is seeking a solution also includes Obaretin, Coli Saco, Folorunsho, Cajuste, Lindstrom, Ambrosino, Cheddira, Ngonge and Iaccarino, all considered likely to leave Castel Volturno should acceptable offers arrive.
The picture is different for a handful of players who will be closely assessed by Allegri during the summer training camp. Among them are Noa Lang and Lorenzo Lucca, both significant investments from last season who have yet to find consistency, and who will get the chance to win over the new head coach during pre-season.
Romelu Lukaku is also under scrutiny, with the Belgian expected to offer more than he did last season, while Rao and Hasa, who both impressed while out on loan at Bari and Carrarese respectively, will also be assessed before any decisions are made on their futures.
