Mbappé opened the scoring in the 41st minute before Raphinha equalised for Barcelona after half-time. The forward then struck the winner in the 87th minute, finishing a counterattack created by Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV, Mbappé put the emphasis on the collective performance rather than his personal milestone.
“The protagonist of the match today is the team, the group, because we knew we had to play a man’s game, a team game,” he said.
“We prepared well over the last few matches because we have been winning, playing well, with the right mentality, and today we gave everything we had.”
He acknowledged that the contest had tested Madrid but welcomed the significance of the result in the title race.
“We had difficult moments in the match, moments when we dominated, and in the end winning and still being in the league race is very important for us,” Mbappé said.
“But we have to keep going. We know it is a big match, but it counts as three points, and we need to collect many more points to win the league.”
The forward was presented with a shirt bearing the number 100 after reaching the milestone. He achieved the landmark in his 116th appearance for Madrid, with his goals spread across domestic and European competitions.
“I’m very happy. Everyone knows that I like scoring goals and helping the team in that way,” he said. “But I think this is just a detail, because, as I said, the most important thing is the team’s victory.”
Mbappé was equally clear that the Clásico must not distract Madrid from the work still required.
“Five matches in a row winning is nothing for Real Madrid,” he said. “We want to win every match we play. This victory at Camp Nou sends a good message, but we must not think the season is over.”
Madrid face Racing Santander next, and Mbappé called for the same intensity in their next outing.
“Next week in Santander, we have to bring the same intensity,” he said.
The forward also argued that Madrid’s ambitions could only be achieved through collective effort, despite the talent in the squad.
“If we want to achieve things this year, we have to do it as a group and as a team,” he said. “The quality is here. Anyone who says there is no quality is a liar, but we have to do everything as a team and as a group. That is how we will achieve what we want.”
His double delivered the headline moment, but Mbappé’s message was that Madrid’s season will be defined by what follows.
