The allegations concerning Manchester City’s financial reporting include 14 instances relating to the provision of accurate details for player and manager payments between 2009-10 and 2017-18, a period covering Mancini’s three-and-a-half years in charge.
Mancini was asked about the case during a press conference ahead of Italy’s Nations League match against Türkiye.
“Found guilty of what?” Mancini said. “It’s not an issue that concerns me. It’s nothing new because this matter has been discussed for the last four or five years.”
“Manchester City has not been found guilty, and the alleged double contract is not my concern. It’s their issue, not mine.”
The former City manager took charge of the club in 2009 and remained in the position until 2013, winning the FA Cup in 2011 before leading City to their first top-flight title in 44 years in 2012.
His remuneration became part of the Premier League’s case against City after allegations emerged that he had received additional payments for consultancy work with Abu Dhabi club Al Jazira.
Der Spiegel previously alleged that a significant portion of Mancini’s compensation came through a separate consultancy arrangement and that he received more from that role than from his City managerial contract, excluding bonuses and incentives.
The Premier League case has now reached a significant stage, with an independent panel finding City guilty on all but one of the charges brought against the club. The sanctions have yet to be determined.
Mancini has nevertheless sought to separate himself from the wider proceedings, insisting that the allegations concerning his remuneration do not represent an issue for him.
His response comes more than a decade after his departure from the Etihad, where he delivered City’s first Premier League title in dramatic circumstances in 2012.
The Italian is now focused on his role with the national team and was speaking before Italy’s Nations League fixture against Türkiye.
The Premier League proceedings remain ongoing in terms of determining the consequences of the findings, meaning the final sanctions against Manchester City are still to be established.
For Mancini, however, the issue remains one he does not consider part of his current responsibilities.
