Soriano is understood to have addressed the squad after players returned to training on Thursday, with manager Enzo Maresca also speaking to his team before their Premier League meeting with Liverpool, reports The Sun.
The club has appealed against an independent commission's findings over breaches of financial regulations and continues to deny wrongdoing. Manchester City have pointed to their successful challenge against UEFA sanctions in 2020 as evidence that an adverse ruling can be overturned.
The immediate message inside the club has been to maintain focus on football while the legal process continues.
One source speaking to The Sun described the atmosphere at the training ground as calm, with efforts being made to preserve the mood that existed before the international break.
Maresca has publicly backed the club's position and made clear that he trusts the people responsible for handling the appeal.
βFirst of all good morning, I understand the reason why most of you are here, but the only thing I can say is something that I already said, there is a process ongoing and in this moment I completely trust the club. This is what I can say about that,β he said.
Asked whether he believed City could win the appeal, Maresca added: βI spoke with the club for sure, we all trust and probably the right moment to speak about that is when we are going to win this appeal.β
The manager's comments reflect the confidence City are seeking to project while the proceedings remain unresolved. The club has argued that the commission's opinion contains material errors of law, principle and fact, and says it has evidence to support its position.
The appeal was lodged on October 1. The case has put the club's financial conduct under intense scrutiny, with possible sporting sanctions hanging over the outcome.
Former manager Pep Guardiola has also remained supportive. The Spaniard is expected to attend City's forthcoming Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain, providing another visible link with the club during a turbulent period.
Maresca confirmed that he had spoken to Guardiola after City's recent match against Manchester United.
βI spoke with Pep the last time after the Man United game, but I know that he is coming,β he said.
The City manager welcomed the prospect of his predecessor returning to the Etihad Stadium.
βIt's always a pleasure, after 10 years here he can come any time he wants, not just a game, for a training session, for any moment.β
For now, City's public stance is to trust the appeal process and keep attention on upcoming fixtures. The legal challenge will determine the next stage of the dispute, while Maresca and his players prepare for Liverpool.
