The most recent mission was at Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium last month, where Touré played the full 90 minutes for Ivory Coast in a 1-0 friendly win over Scotland.
The Liverpool delegation came back impressed — his pace, resilience and creativity in possession all catching the eye, reports Bild.
Touré, born in Bouaké, Ivory Coast in March 2006, is just 20 years old. He joined Hoffenheim from Swedish side Hammarby in February 2025 for around €14 million and has since become one of the Bundesliga's most effective creative players.
His numbers this season are striking. Two goals and 11 assists in 24 Bundesliga appearances — six of those assists coming in his last nine matches alone.
He is left-footed but comfortable on either flank, giving him flexibility that suits Arne Slot's system.
Hoffenheim have no obligation to sell. Touré is under contract until 2029 and there is no release clause. Any deal would require an opening bid of around €40 million.
Liverpool are not alone.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Bayern Munich have all been credited with interest, according to TransferFeed. The player's stock is only likely to rise — he is a near-certain inclusion in Ivory Coast's World Cup squad this summer, having already scored twice in three appearances at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
A strong tournament in North America could push his value considerably higher.
Salah leaves Anfield this summer after confirming his departure weeks ago. Liverpool's priority replacement targets include RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande, who would cost up to €100 million.
At €40 million, Touré is a more attainable option.
Whether he is ready to fill those particular shoes is another question entirely.
