RMC Sport reported the enquiry, with Fulham, Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Ipswich Town having moved more concretely — Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Ham have each submitted formal offers to Mbow's representatives.
Liverpool's approach is described as quieter and more exploratory, with the club monitoring how the situation develops.
Mbow stands 6ft 4in and has been one of the standout performers in Paris FC's first Ligue 1 campaign following their promotion last season, reaching 100 appearances for the club this month.
He has started 29 league matches and averaged five clearances and four and a half duels won per game, with his aerial dominance and composure in possession drawing attention from clubs seeking a physically imposing modern centre-back.
His potential arrival at Anfield is understood to be linked to the future of Ibrahima Konaté, whose contract expires this summer and who has yet to agree new terms. Mbow would offer a different profile to Konaté — more commanding aerially, though less dynamic — and could arrive as a budget squad option alongside a higher-profile addition.
Lille have also shown interest, adding French domestic competition to the Premier League chase. Mbow joined Paris FC from Stade de Reims in 2023 and his contract runs until 2028. The club are yet to offer him a renewal, leaving his situation open.
With the World Cup approaching, Senegal manager Pape Thiaw has been monitoring Mbow closely, and a move to the Premier League would strengthen his case for inclusion in the squad. West Ham's ability to offer him top-flight football is contingent on their avoiding relegation in the final three matches of the season.
