Leeds connection adds intrigue to Kelvin Yeboah interest

Kelvin Yeboah is attracting Premier League and European interest after scoring 18 goals for Minnesota United in the 2026 MLS season.

The 26-year-old currently ranks fourth in the league’s scoring standings, behind Lionel Messi, Petar Musa and Milan Iloski. His performances have brought him to the attention of clubs looking for attacking reinforcements, according to talkSPORT.

Yeboah’s Minnesota contract runs until December 2027, with a club option for 2028. He joined in 2024 on a three-and-a-half-year deal and has since become one of the team’s leading attackers.

The Ghana-born striker previously played for WSG Tirol and Sturm Graz in Austria, scoring 17 goals in 34 league appearances for the latter before moving to Genoa. He also had loan spells at Augsburg and Montpellier before joining Minnesota.

Everton are among the Premier League sides who could be looking for a striker. Thierno Barry is currently the club’s only natural centre-forward, while an attempt to sign Folarin Balogun fell through on deadline day. Yeboah’s profile could therefore be of interest if Everton decide to strengthen their attacking options.

Leeds United could also be an appealing destination because of his family connection. His uncle, Tony Yeboah, became a cult figure at Elland Road between 1995 and 1997, scoring 24 goals in 47 Premier League appearances.

Tony’s spectacular volley against Liverpool in August 1995 remains one of Leeds’ most celebrated goals. His nephew has spoken about the influence it had on his ambitions.

“Growing up, I remember my Dad putting on videos of my uncle playing football, and singing songs about him!” he told GOAL in 2022.

“Me and my brothers would watch these goals all the time. I especially remember seeing the goal against Liverpool. It was a beautiful image to have in the back of your mind all the time, of my uncle scoring goals in the Premier League. It was a great source of inspiration. To have someone close to you that's already done it, it just makes you believe that maybe you can make it as a professional too.”

No specific club has emerged as a leading contender, but Yeboah’s scoring form could give him an opportunity to follow his uncle into English football when the transfer window opens.
