Leeds United have agreed a £34.1m fee with Sassuolo for centre-back Tarik Muharemovic, though personal terms and a medical are still to be completed.

The 23-year-old has yet to commit to Elland Road, with other Premier League clubs also understood to be showing interest in the Bosnia-Herzegovina international.

Should he choose Leeds United, Muharemovic would become Daniel Farke's second signing of the summer following Harry Wilson's free transfer from Fulham, and would provide a direct replacement for Pascal Struijk, who left for Brighton in a £20m deal in June.

Muharemovic was a regular for Bosnia-Herzegovina at this summer's World Cup, making three appearances including the last-32 defeat by co-hosts the United States. That match brought controversy, with Folarin Balogun shown a red card for a foul on the defender before FIFA later suspended the American forward's resulting ban following an intervention from the White House.

Born in Ljubljana, Muharemovic began his career in Austria with Wolfsberger AC, making his professional debut against Red Bull Salzburg in 2021 before moving to Juventus later that year, where he did not make a first-team appearance.

He spent a season on loan at Sassuolo, helping the club win the Serie B title and secure promotion to Serie A, before signing permanently in 2025 following a successful loan spell. He has since extended his contract with the Emilia-Romagna club and established himself as a regular in Serie A. Juventus are reportedly set to receive half of any fee due to a sell-on clause inserted when they let the defender leave last summer.

The centre-back made his senior international debut for Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2024 and has gone on to earn 17 caps, captaining the country's under-21 side earlier in his career. He featured in Bosnia's opening group match against Canada at this summer's World Cup before starting the last-32 tie with the United States, in which the Balogun incident occurred.

No final agreement over personal terms has yet been reached, and the move remains subject to Muharemovic passing a medical and choosing Leeds ahead of other suitors.
