The Barcelona winger highlighted Abdelkarim in a wide-ranging interview with On Sport, discussing his own ambitions with Barcelona and Spain, his admiration for Lionel Messi and the growing presence of African players in European football.
Yamal said Barcelona's approach remains collective despite the number of individual talents in the squad.
"We play for the team, and our objective is always to win," he said.
The 19-year-old also explained the role he tries to play within the side.
"I try to play as effectively as possible, make a difference and give everything I have for the team, but my fundamental role is to achieve balance," Yamal said.
"The team adapts to the presence of several players, and each player is special in what they do."
After Spain's recent success, Yamal said the squad remains motivated rather than satisfied with what it has already achieved.
"We work calmly and with the desire to achieve more, and nobody gets bored of winning," he said.
The Champions League is also high on Barcelona's list of ambitions.
"We have to be lucky and play to win the title, and hopefully we can lift the trophy this year," Yamal said.
When asked to choose between Messi, Pelé and Diego Maradona, there was no hesitation.
"Messi, from what I have seen and observed, I would choose Messi as the best in history for everything he has contributed and everything he continues to contribute," Yamal said.
His strongest praise was reserved for Abdelkarim, whom he believes has the qualities to become a leading striker.
"He is a player with a brilliant future. He is still young and has all the qualities to be a great striker," Yamal said.
"I think he will make the most of his time with the team and score many goals. We've all seen it. He is a very adaptable player. We form a great team. We always try to make him feel comfortable."
Yamal's advice to the young Egyptian was to avoid putting unnecessary pressure on himself.
"The most important thing is that he stays calm, confident when he plays and focused, and he will have plenty of time," he said.
"Nobody will ask anything of him, and nobody will blame him for anything. He will need time to adapt, and that's normal. We've all been through this. He comes from another league and another country."
Yamal also compared Abdelkarim's potential with Mohamed Salah's achievements in England.
"Salah is a great and important player, and he is one of the best African players in the English Premier League," he said.
"Hamza is a player who has the skills and abilities to achieve it, and I hope he becomes a legend of football in Egypt."
The Barcelona winger also welcomed the growing number of African players competing at the highest level and said he hopes more will be recognised for individual awards.
"I hope there are more and more Africans nominated for the Ballon d'Or, but I think what matters is not nationality, but talent," Yamal said.
