Jules Koundé has made clear he has no intention of leaving Barcelona this summer, delivering an unequivocal statement of commitment from France's pre-World Cup camp ahead of the tournament in North America.

The 27-year-old right-back, speaking to reporters in Nantes before France's friendly against Ivory Coast, addressed the speculation directly.

"I hope to stay at Barça. I have a contract until 2030. In my head it is fairly clear. Right now, with the national team, these are things that take a back seat. I am focused on the competition. I am at Barça and I hope to stay there."

Koundé joined Barcelona from Sevilla in the summer of 2022 for a fee in the region of £50m and has established himself as one of the most consistent performers in the squad over four seasons, making 47 appearances across all competitions last campaign.

His combination of technical quality and defensive robustness — and his relationship on the right flank with Lamine Yamal — has made him a central figure under Hansi Flick.

His comments come against a backdrop of renewed interest from several Premier League clubs, though Barcelona have shown no inclination to entertain any approach. At 27 and entering a World Cup summer, Koundé is at the peak of his powers and is not inclined to disrupt an arrangement that suits him entirely.

He also reflected on his international experience.

"It is my fourth competition with the French national team and I am happy to be playing in this second World Cup. In the dressing room, everyone can express themselves — it is good to have many different leaders."
