Kane weighing up extension talks as Bayern look to tie down striker to 2029 deal

Bayern Munich

Harry Kane is in early talks with Bayern Munich over a contract extension, with the striker understood to want a deal beyond Bayern's preferred offer and foreign clubs already making discreet enquiries.

Kane's current contract runs until 2027, and Bayern Munich would like to extend it to 2029. The striker's camp is pushing for a deal through to 2030, which would see him still at the Allianz Arena at the age of 37. The gap between the two positions means further negotiation is required before any agreement is reached.

The financial dimension is also relevant, though Kicker reports it is not the primary sticking point. Kane earns around 25 million euros gross per season according to Capology, with potential bonuses of up to a further 6.3 million euros. Overseas clubs have already made discreet contact with Kane's representatives, according to the same report, with the prospect of double his current salary available elsewhere.

Both Bayern and Kane are said to want the situation resolved, but the timing of any escalation from outside clubs — potentially after the World Cup — means the coming months could prove decisive.

The context for any decision-making is one of considerable success. Kane won the Bundesliga this season for the second time, claimed the Torjägerkanone as the league's top scorer for a second consecutive campaign, and has his sights on the DFB-Pokal final. His numbers since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 have been extraordinary, with 67 goals in his first Bundesliga season and another prolific campaign to follow.

For Bayern the priority is clear — extending Kane's deal before the market can complicate the picture. The club are confident an agreement is possible and do not view the gap in positions as insurmountable, but formal talks have not yet reached a stage where a deal is imminent.
