Liverpool sacked Arne Slot after last season and turned to Iraola, who arrived from Bournemouth hoping the Spaniard can help the club recapture the high-intensity, front-foot style it was known for during Jürgen Klopp's time at the helm.
The 44-year-old had spent three seasons on the south coast, leading the Cherries to their first European campaign, before being placed in charge of an Anfield squad that has continued to be reshaped with big-money arrivals including Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola.
"Yes, definitely. I think everyone felt better on the pitch, and looking at it myself, I feel more involved in the game and I'm getting better too," Iraola told Liverpool's official website when asked about his squad's progress in adopting the pressing approach he wants to instil.
Sustaining that intensity for a full 90 minutes remains a work in progress, according to left-back Milos Kerkez, 22, who broke through under Iraola during his time at Bournemouth before following him to Merseyside in a £40 million move last year.
"When we press like we do, it's a bit difficult to do it for the whole match, all 90 minutes," the Hungary international said. "We can do it for the first 30 to 35 minutes, and in a way we can also do it at the start of the second half — but after that it's about staying compact and talking to each other."
Kerkez wants the team to build on their performance against Ipswich Town, Liverpool's first win of the season and their first clean sheet under the new head coach, secured thanks to a quickfire brace from Isak.
"That's exactly what we said we need to improve on, and as defenders we're pleased with the clean sheet. We defended pretty well against their crosses and set-pieces. Like I said, everyone was 100 per cent focused," he added.
The result lifted Liverpool to five points from their opening three Premier League matches, following draws against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, and gave Iraola his first win in charge at the third attempt — a wait that echoed his slow start at Bournemouth, where it took ten matches to register a maiden Premier League victory.
Isak's brace, both goals set up by Cody Gakpo, means the Sweden striker has already matched his total tally from last season, a rapid response following his British-record £125 million move from Newcastle a year ago. Liverpool now turn their attention to the Champions League, with Atlético Madrid visiting Anfield on Wednesday.
