Inter Milan have held talks over a move for Tottenham full-back Djed Spence, whose club future remains uncertain despite his rise to prominence with England at the World Cup.

Spence, 25, is currently preparing for Wednesday's semi-final against Argentina in Atlanta, but away from the tournament he holds only a back-up role at Spurs. Pedro Porro is first-choice right-back at the club, while Andy Robertson and Destiny Udogie compete for the left-back spot, leaving Spence short of regular game time.

Everton have also registered interest as they look to strengthen their options at right-back following Seamus Coleman's departure and ongoing fitness issues for Nathan Patterson, while Inter are exploring a move as a possible replacement for Denzel Dumfries.

Spence's tournament in the United States started slowly, with his performance against DR Congo drawing heavy criticism, but he has since earned praise for a pair of impactful substitute appearances against Mexico and Norway that have raised his profile considerably. He has featured in six England matches at the tournament in total, wearing a protective chin strap throughout after injuring his jaw in a pre-tournament match against Chelsea.

His improved form has coincided with growing transfer interest, with reports in Italy linking Inter Milan's move to their search for a long-term option at wing-back following Dumfries' departure to Spain, after an earlier target, Union Saint-Gilloise winger Anan Khalaili, fell through.

Everton, meanwhile, continue to weigh up their options at right-back as David Moyes looks to address a position that has become a priority following changes to his defensive personnel, with Tottenham seeking around ยฃ40m for the full-back, says The Sun.

Spence remains under contract at Tottenham until 2029, meaning the north London club are under no immediate pressure to sell, and his focus for now remains on helping England reach a first World Cup final since 1966. Any decision over his next move is expected to follow the conclusion of the tournament, once he has had the chance to reflect on his role under head coach Roberto De Zerbi for the season ahead.
