Lo Schiavo has left Palermo and is expected to complete the move to Inter Milan after a final meeting to settle the remaining contractual details. The appointment has not yet been formally announced, but Inter have identified him as the candidate to support Baccin, who was promoted to sporting director following Piero Ausilio’s departure.
Born in Tropea on October 25, 1985, Lo Schiavo has built his career around scouting, recruitment and the development of young players. He studied law and initially worked as a lawyer before committing fully to football. He later completed his sporting-director qualification at Coverciano, progressing through roles in the lower divisions before moving into senior Italian football.
His first major opportunity came at Vibonese, where he became sporting director in 2017. He helped the Calabrian club win promotion from Serie D to Serie C, then oversaw two seasons of survival in the professional ranks.
Lo Schiavo moved to Roma in 2020, initially leading the scouting department before taking on wider responsibilities in the academy. His work included technical coordination of the Primavera, Under-18 and Under-17 teams, giving him experience in identifying and developing talent across different age groups.
In 2022, he joined Salernitana as head of scouting, working alongside sporting director Morgan De Sanctis during the club’s successful fight to remain in Serie A. He moved to Palermo in 2024, where he worked within the recruitment structure and contributed to the construction of a squad that has since become a leading contender in Serie B.
Several young players have been associated with his scouting work. At Roma, he identified Ghanaian forward Felix Afena-Gyan, whose potential led to the club signing him before he was promoted to the first team by José Mourinho. Benjamin Tahirovic, Cristian Volpato, Joao Costa and Alessandro Romano were also among the young players brought into the club during his time in the scouting department.
His Salernitana period was part of a wider recruitment operation that brought in players including Boulaye Dia, Domagoj Bradaric, Flavius Daniliuc, Lorenzo Pirola and Tonny Vilhena.
