Guardiola’s future has again become a talking point despite continued success with Manchester City, leading to suggestions he could one day move into international management.
Asked about the idea of Guardiola coaching Italy, Nani joked there would be no complaints if it happened.
“As Mazzone used to say, maybe he falls for it,” he told TMW.
“I have great affection for Pep. It would be a privilege as an Italian fan.
“We have many good coaches, but we are talking about the top level.”
Nani also insisted Guardiola should currently be left in peace after another successful season with City.
The Spaniard has repeatedly been linked with national team roles in recent years but remains under contract in Manchester.
Whether he ever steps into international football remains one of the game’s biggest unanswered questions.
