Glasner, who will end his tenure at Selhurst Park after the final, addressed the media after Crystal Palace's last home match of the season โ a defeat that meant little in league terms given the title was already settled โ and confirmed that preparation for the Rayo Vallecano game has been well underway for days.
"We've started analysing Vallecano. We showed the players how they will press us, what we need in possession, how we want to get pressure on them. We had two intense sessions this week planning for Vallecano. Now it's just about fine tuning and making sure the players are fresh."
He addressed Sunday's defensive performance directly.
"Regarding football it was not our best match, especially defensively. But what defines this group is they never give up. We scored the goal and nearly scored the equaliser. We have to play better โ and will definitely play better on Wednesday."
The fitness of Adam Wharton remains the key concern. The England midfielder was introduced as a substitute against Arsenal but was withdrawn after suffering a knock to his ankle. Glasner was cautiously optimistic.
"His ankle is a bit sore. He always gives positive signals but the real answer we'll get tomorrow after one night of sleep. Hopefully it's not too bad and he's available for Wednesday."
The Leipzig Stadium in eastern Germany will host the final, with an official capacity of 47,800. Palace have never competed in a European final. Rayo Vallecano have not either โ making this a first for both clubs.
Glasner won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022 and guided Palace to FA Cup glory against Manchester City last season. A Conference League title would make him one of only a handful of managers to win two different major European trophies.
"When you play a final, you want to win it," he told UEFA. "I just want to say thank you to every single player who contributed when I think back to the development we've had over two years. And thank you to our fans โ they believed in us so we could see that everything is possible."
