Asked how he was settling in, Gila struck an upbeat tone.
"I'm doing well, very well. I'm really happy. Footballing-wise, since I arrived, I've felt very at home. The lads are a great group, it feels like a family... the staff too, the kit men, the medical team.
"My team-mates are very good, I'm really pleased to be in a squad like this. I've basically found a home here now. I want to live it and start feeling it's mine."
Gila revealed details of a lengthy first-day conversation with Amorim that played a part in his decision to sign.
"With Amorim we talked a bit about how we see football, where we agree. We compared ideas, we talked about a way of thinking about football that's very similar. We think alike. He was partly the one who pushed me to choose this club.
"I have to say Milan maybe weren't at their highest point, but I like that, because going to a team that's already winning isn't all that satisfying. Arriving somewhere where people want to help it grow... I like those kinds of challenges, I think it's even more beautiful."
Asked about interest shown previously by Massimiliano Allegri and Igli Tare, both since departed from Lazio, Gila didn't hold back.
"It's true Allegri wanted me, it would be silly to deny it. Igli too. Things went the way they went, Allegri and Igli left... Then the call came from Ruben, and seeing that desire to have me at Milan... I don't think you can put a price on that. It didn't take much to convince me, honestly. I think I made the right choice."
On his impressions of owner Gerry Cardinale, Gila said: "I hadn't spoken to him before signing, I spoke to him afterwards. It was very quick, the fact that I knew they were really interested. My decision wasn't a long one. He didn't even have time to call me because I already knew clearly that I wanted to come here. Once everything was done, he messaged me saying he was really happy to see me and that I was here, and that he was waiting for me with open arms."
Asked which team-mate he's bonded with, Gila singled out Matteo Gabbia.
"A personality I really liked, someone who made me feel part of the squad straight away, was Gabbia. He's a really important leader within the team. Then there are a couple of young lads, Camarda and Bartesaghi. I've bonded a lot with them, I'm with them almost all the time, it made me really happy that they welcomed me into the squad so quickly."
Finally, asked what he needs to improve to break into the Spain squad, Gila was candid.
"I've got no problem answering that. I think when I'm in a really positive moment in a game, I gain a lot of confidence and maybe I like myself too much, wanting to do too much. That's something that changes with maturity - knowing how to manage those moments when you feel really good. It's something I need to work on and I'm aware I'll improve. I hope so."
