Agency 11MANGMT published a seven-page statement on Instagram to challenge the version of events that circulated after Getafe's sporting management addressed the closure of the transfer window on Wednesday.
The agency made clear the decision to speak publicly came from them alone, not the player, and was prompted by what they described as a lack of clarity in the club's own explanation of Abqar's situation.
According to the statement, no offer of €5million ever reached the stage of being a formal proposal Abqar could have rejected. The agency traces the origin of the confusion back to 28 May, when an intermediary from an Italian club made initial contact to ask about the defender's salary demands after Getafe flagged interest in a sale.
The intermediary reportedly said the wages were difficult for his club to accommodate and promised a follow-up call involving the club's sporting director. That call, according to 11MANGMT, never came, and no club representative made further contact for more than three months.
The agency does acknowledge that Getafe informed both them and the player directly that a departure needed to be arranged, a message that reached Abqar the day before the club's second league match of the season.
Despite wanting to stay, the 26-year-old was reportedly willing to sacrifice a significant portion of his salary to facilitate a move, with Getafe also showing willingness to absorb some of the financial cost themselves. No agreement ultimately came together before the window closed.
The statement also alleges the club had separately instructed other representatives to seek a move abroad for Abqar without 11MANGMT's knowledge, a mandate the agency says it discovered only when it reached an intermediary connected to the agency itself.
Getafe are said to have acknowledged the situation internally and apologised once the issue was raised. The agency said it had stayed silent throughout the window out of respect for the club, supporters and journalists, but felt compelled to respond once Wednesday's press conference left what it considered a misleading impression. The statement closed by confirming Abqar will continue training and remain available whenever head coach José Bordalás decides to include him.
