AS Roma have submitted a first official club-to-club offer for Morato, according to Fabrizio Romano, with sporting director Tony D'Amico working to bring the Brazilian centre-back to Gian Piero Gasperini's squad.
Talks with Nottingham Forest, who hold his registration, centre on an initial loan, and the 25-year-old — full name Felipe Rodrigues da Silva — has already responded enthusiastically to the prospect of a move to the Italian capital. The push for Morato stems from Roma's need to free up minutes elsewhere: the club signed the defender only a year ago but have been unable to guarantee him regular football.
The move is closely tied to Jan Ziolkowski's own situation. Monza have all but completed a deal to sign the Poland international on a straight loan, after Roma turned down an €8m offer from Parma for the 21-year-old in recent days.
Gasperini had resisted letting Ziolkowski leave during the previous window, but with the defender limited to just 500 Serie A minutes last season and eager for more regular football, Roma are prepared to sanction the move this time — without relinquishing control of the player longer-term, in the hope that a loan spell elsewhere will bring him back to the capital with a higher level of readiness.
At the other end of the same market, Forest have made a concrete move for Dodô, tabling a €7m bid with Fiorentina, according to Sky Sport. Talks over a new contract for the Brazilian right-back have stalled for some time, and his current deal in Florence runs only until the summer of 2027.
Fiorentina have rejected Forest's opening offer, regarding the fee as well below the 27-year-old's true value, leaving a significant gap between what the Tricky Trees have proposed and what the Italian club are demanding — a gap Forest will likely need to close with an improved bid in the coming hours if the deal is to progress.
Fiorentina head coach Fabio Grosso addressed Dodô's situation after his side's opening-weekend defeat to Roma, without directly confirming the transfer interest.
"Dodô... in hindsight, you can make a thousand reflections — I tried to get Franco to play centrally, to give us more solidity at the back. What I take from it is that we need to understand how to stay better in the game even when things go like this. To compete in this league, quality isn't enough — you also need intensity, and to push back against the opposition's. We could have avoided all the goals," Grosso said.
