Fenerbahce are stepping up their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Yasin Ayari, with the Turkish club reportedly prepared to triple his current salary to secure a January move.

The 23-year-old Sweden international joined Brighton from AIK in January 2023, with the Swedish club retaining a sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

Ayari has since established himself at Brighton and attracted interest from a growing list of clubs, particularly after his performances for Sweden.

Fenerbahce and Galatasaray were previously linked with the midfielder, while Liverpool and Chelsea have also continued to monitor his situation.

Newcastle United, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have subsequently emerged among the clubs reported to be interested in Ayari.

His contractual situation has helped increase the attention surrounding him. Ayari is currently approaching the final year of his Brighton contract, although the Premier League club reportedly have an option to extend his agreement until the summer of 2028.

That option is expected to be activated, potentially strengthening Brighton’s position if Fenerbahce or another interested club attempts to make a move.

Turkish outlet Fotomac now reports that Fenerbahce are pushing particularly hard to sign Ayari before the January window.

The Swedish midfielder is said to be at the top of the club’s shortlist, with Fenerbahce prepared to make a significant financial commitment to convince him to move to Turkey.

Ayari currently earns around €1 million per season, according to the report, while Fenerbahce are prepared to offer approximately three times that figure.

The Turkish club are also reportedly proposing a four-year contract with an option for a further season.

Previous reports have suggested that Ayari could command a transfer fee of around €40 million if Brighton decide to sell.

His performances for Sweden have also continued to increase his profile. Ayari has scored six goals in 27 international appearances and has established himself as an increasingly important member of the national team.

Fenerbahce’s willingness to significantly improve his salary could therefore make them a serious contender, although Brighton’s reported extension option could complicate any potential January deal.

With interest growing across several major European clubs, Ayari’s future is likely to become one of the more closely watched midfield situations when the transfer window reopens.
