While Parker believes Carrick deserves the role, he says Iraola is the one manager currently in the Premier League who fits what United should be looking for.
Parker, speaking to Football Presse, said: “I only see one manager which actually suits it.
“What he’s gone and done is Iraola.”
Parker praised the Spaniard for transforming Bournemouth despite losing key players and still pushing for European qualification.
He said: “You’ve seen what he’s done with Bournemouth. He’s done brilliant with Bournemouth.
“He lost three defenders last season. Then he’s gone again and he’s got a side that hasn’t been mentioned.”
Parker believes Bournemouth reaching Europe would be one of the stories of the season and says Iraola deserves huge credit for the job he has done on the south coast.
He also highlighted the style of football being played, claiming Iraola gives players freedom rather than trapping them in rigid systems.
Parker added: “I like the football he plays.
“His players are not stuck in a system.
“They’re allowed a little bit of freedom that when in the right areas, if they’re going to make an opportunity, they’re allowed to play.”
Iraola has won admirers across England since arriving from Rayo Vallecano, blending intensity, organisation and attacking intent.
Manchester United continue to weigh up their long-term managerial direction, but Parker believes if they look outside Carrick, the Bournemouth boss should be first in line.
