Sean Davis, who played alongside Liam Rosenior at Fulham between 2003 and 2005, has become the latest former teammate to publicly question the Chelsea head coach's style, saying he no longer recognises the man he shared a dressing room with.

Speaking on the Under The Cosh podcast, Davis stopped short of a full condemnation but did not hold back on the substance of his criticism.

"I don't even recognise him. I don't know who that guy is. He talks like he's swallowed a dictionary of long words."

Davis was careful to acknowledge the structural barriers Rosenior faces.

"Good luck to him, a lot of people might criticise him, but he's done the hard yards in coaching. It's going to be tough for him being a black coach as well โ€” it is tough to get a chance. Even Ashley Cole has had to go to Italy to get a job, so I respect that Rosenior has done the hard yards."

He then added: "But some of the words and some of the stuff he's coming out with โ€” it's a bit b*. I think people just overcomplicate football to get a job nowadays. Football is not rocket science."

Davis is not the first of Rosenior's former teammates to raise the point. Former Hull City midfielder Kevin Kilbane used similar language, describing Rosenior as unrecognisable and calling his media contributions waffle and drivel.

Rosenior, 41, has become something of a social media talking point since taking the Chelsea job in January, with clips of his post-match interviews circulating widely.

His position is under scrutiny following five consecutive Premier League defeats, with Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Leeds at Wembley now representing a critical moment for his tenure.
