Jonathan Nsangou scored a late equaliser as Everton drew 3-3 with Blackburn Rovers in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The 16-year-old Under-18s forward struck after being played through by Jack Grealish, rescuing a draw after Blackburn had moved 3-2 ahead with three minutes remaining.
Charly Alcaraz had opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Mark Travers saved a Blackburn spot-kick. Alcaraz then supplied the cross for Thierno Barry to double Everton's lead before the visitors responded with three goals after half-time.
Liverpool Echo reported that David Moyes used the international break to give opportunities to a number of younger players because 11 members of his squad were away on international duty.
Joshua van Schoor, John Dodds, Ezra Carrington, Harvey Foster and Melvin Matos were among those given minutes, with Nsangou ultimately providing the final contribution of the afternoon.
The goal came during an important opportunity for a player who has already set himself an exceptionally high personal target.
In an Everton Academy post on X, Nsangou said his dream in football is to win the Ballon d'Or. He identified shooting as his best attribute and said he enjoys playing in an attacking role.
The teenager was born in Poland to a Polish mother and former Cameroon footballer Alirou Nsangou. He also named Amari Moses as his best friend in football and Cristiano Ronaldo as his childhood idol.
Nsangou's goal against Blackburn was particularly notable because it came from an assist by Grealish, allowing the academy forward to make his mark alongside one of Everton's senior attacking players.
The friendly was arranged to provide match minutes during the international break, so the result carries little wider significance for Moyes' side. For Nsangou, however, the late equaliser offered another opportunity to show his progress to the first-team coaching staff.
Everton will return to competitive action after the international window with Nsangou's latest appearance adding to the growing experience of a forward who has already made his ambitions clear. His finish also ensured Everton did not leave the break empty-handed.
