Luca Davis is set to gain his first experience away from Everton after joining Morecambe on a short-term loan.

The 20-year-old can play at centre-back or right-back and moves to the National League North side for the first loan spell of his professional career. Davis has been with Everton since the age of 13, having joined the club’s academy from Bury.

He enjoyed a busy 2025/26 season, making 16 appearances across Premier League 2, the National League Cup and the Premier League International Cup. Much of that work came at right-back, where he contributed two goals and three assists to register five goal involvements.

Davis has featured five times for Everton’s development side this season in Premier League 2 and the National League Cup. The switch to Morecambe should give him a different test, with the defender moving into a senior league environment and the demands that come with it.

Everton confirmed the move through the club’s official channels. For Davis, the immediate aim will be to earn minutes and make the most of an opportunity to develop outside the academy structure.

Morecambe were 17th in the National League North at the time of the announcement, with four league wins to their name. Davis’s versatility may prove useful as he looks to establish himself in the squad, whether deployed centrally or at right-back.

Regular exposure to senior football now offers another way for Davis to build on that foundation and strengthen his case for further opportunities at Everton.

The temporary switch follows a steady period of involvement at youth level, with Davis appearing in three competitions last season before adding five more outings this term. A spell in the National League North could help him sharpen the defensive side of his game while retaining the attacking instincts he showed from right-back.

For an academy player approaching the next stage of his career, the challenge is to turn that development experience into consistent performances against senior opponents. Davis now has an opportunity to do that with Morecambe, while Everton can track his progress in a competitive first-team environment.
