Everton and Newcastle United are preparing to pursue Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara in January, with both Premier League clubs assessing a potential move for the Brazilian.

The 27-year-old has made an impressive start to the season in Turkey, registering two goals and two assists in seven appearances. His performances have strengthened his reputation and attracted renewed interest from England.

Galatasaray signed Sara in 2024 for a reported €18 million, following his spell with Norwich City. The midfielder has since established himself in Turkey, and his form has put him back on the radar of clubs looking to strengthen their options in the centre of the pitch.

Newcastle United were interested in signing Sara during the summer transfer window but failed to complete a deal. The Magpies are expected to return with another offer when the market reopens in January, having maintained their interest in the player.

Everton have now emerged as another potential destination. The Merseyside club are reportedly assessing the financial implications of a transfer and preparing a formal proposal as they consider whether to challenge Newcastle for his signature.

The two clubs could therefore find themselves competing for a player who was already on Newcastle’s shortlist before the previous window closed.

Sara’s technical ability and experience in European football make him an attractive option, although any agreement will depend on Galatasaray’s willingness to sell and the terms offered by the interested clubs.

The Turkish side paid a significant fee to bring him to Istanbul, meaning Everton and Newcastle would need to put forward a proposal that satisfies the club’s valuation. The midfielder’s contribution this season may also strengthen Galatasaray’s position in any negotiations.

Neither English club has completed a deal, and the reported preparations remain at the stage of transfer planning rather than a confirmed agreement.

The January window is still some distance away, but both sides appear to be laying the groundwork for a possible approach. Newcastle will hope a renewed bid succeeds where its summer effort failed, while Everton are assessing whether they can enter the race.

Sara’s future could consequently become one of the stories to follow as the winter market approaches, with two Premier League clubs weighing up moves for the Galatasaray midfielder.
