Edin Džeko has publicly urged his Bosnian compatriot Tarik Muharemović to join Inter Milan this summer, as the Sassuolo centre-back emerges as one of the most sought-after young defenders in Italian football.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, the veteran forward — who spent several seasons at Inter himself — did not hold back in his recommendation.

"Inter is the right choice for Muharemović. I hope that in the end he goes to Milan. Inter is a top club and in a team like that he can grow and improve. He has a great future ahead of him. He has the quality, but he also has the right mentality."

Muharemović, born in 2003, has made 32 appearances for Sassuolo this season across all competitions, contributing two goals and two assists. The defender has been one of the more impressive young centre-backs in Serie A, earning attention from both Milanese clubs during a campaign that has established his credentials at the top level.

Inter Milan and Juventus are the two clubs most prominently linked. Džeko's public backing for the Nerazzurri adds a personal element to what will otherwise be a straightforward commercial negotiation between Sassuolo and whichever club moves first.
