Borussia Dortmund have submitted a contract offer to Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi as they look to address a growing defensive crisis, according to Tuttosport.

The 28-year-old Argentine will leave Bournemouth as a free agent this summer after turning down the club's renewal offers. Bournemouth director of football Tiago Pinto has confirmed the situation publicly, stating Senesi "will not have a future at the club."

Dortmund are offering him €4 million net per season.

If he accepts, it would make Senesi one of the highest-paid players at Signal Iduna Park.

The timing makes sense for the Bundesliga club. Niklas SΓΌle is leaving on a free this summer. The future of Germany international Nico Schlotterbeck remains unresolved. Dortmund need bodies in central defence and Senesi, available at no transfer cost, represents a smart piece of business.

His agent has already held talks with Dortmund representatives, as well as with AS Roma, according to journalist Nicolo Schira.

The queue, though, is long.

Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have all been linked. Juventus are said to be in constant contact with his entourage. Newcastle reportedly believe they are "strong favourites" to keep him in England. Barcelona have been monitoring the situation for months.

Senesi joined Bournemouth from Feyenoord in August 2022 for €15 million and has been one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League since. He has made 121 competitive appearances for the Cherries, scoring six goals and contributing nine assists β€” remarkable numbers for a centre-back.

He holds three caps for Argentina.

A left-footed defender at home in a high-pressing system, Senesi ranks among the Premier League's most progressive passers from defensive positions. Wherever he ends up, he will arrive for nothing.

That makes him one of the most attractive free agents in European football this summer.
