Borussia Dortmund could revive their interest in Bartosz Mazurek after monitoring the Polish midfielder before his summer move to Red Bull Salzburg.

According to Polish outlet WP SportoweFakty, Borussia Dortmund and Brighton & Hove Albion watched the 19-year-old during his time at Jagiellonia Białystok last season. Mazurek subsequently moved to Salzburg for a reported €6 million, where his development has continued.

His progress in Austria has reportedly put him back on Dortmund’s radar, with the Bundesliga club potentially revisiting their interest as they assess options for the future.

Mazurek is a right-footed midfielder who stands 1.84 metres tall and has represented Poland at under-21 level. His technical quality and ability to influence play in the final third have helped establish his reputation as a promising young prospect.

He is also valued for his work without the ball, giving him a more rounded profile than a midfielder whose contribution is limited to possession. His ability to play incisive passes between opposition lines is another attribute that could appeal to Dortmund.

Those qualities broadly fit the profile the German club are looking for as they continue to monitor emerging talent in European football.

Brighton’s reported interest adds another Premier League connection to the story, although neither club is reported to have made a formal offer for the midfielder.

Mazurek’s move to Salzburg has given him an opportunity to continue his development in a different environment after establishing himself in Poland. His performances will determine whether the reported interest develops into concrete transfer activity.

For Dortmund, the possibility of returning for a player they watched before his move to Austria offers a potential route to a long-term midfield addition. However, the current reports indicate that Mazurek is being monitored rather than that negotiations are under way.

With his development continuing at Salzburg, the Poland under-21 international could attract further attention if he maintains his upward trajectory.
