Promising winger Mathys Detourbet, 19, made his breakthrough in Ligue 2 last season with ESTAC Troyes.

He scored three goals and provided six assists in 33 league appearances for ESTAC Troyes, 23 of which came from the start.

Last week, Detourbet completed a permanent move to Manchester City, City's sister club under the same ownership group.

Monaco have now confirmed on their official website that Detourbet will join them on loan for the upcoming season. The French side finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season, meaning they will play in the Conference League this new season.

Born in Troyes on 29 April 2007, Detourbet began his football career at ES Municipaux Troyes before joining the ESTAC academy in 2015.

He progressed through the club's youth system before signing his first professional contract on 8 May 2025.

Detourbet made his first-team debut for Troyes in a French Cup match against Stade Rennais, won 1-0, before making his Ligue 2 debut against Annecy five days later.

He gradually established himself in the Troyes rotation, playing 13 matches in the second half of the 2024-25 season before building on that form last term as an important member of the ESTAC squad.

Detourbet was particularly influential in a 3-0 win over AS Saint-Etienne with three games remaining in the season, a result that proved decisive in the race for the Ligue 2 title.

His performances marked him out as an explosive attacking talent capable of making a difference in one-on-one situations, which led to Manchester City moving to sign him at the end of the campaign.

At Monaco, Detourbet will link up with several players he has represented France alongside at youth level, including Aladji Bamba, Jules Stawiecki, Pape Cabral and Ilane Toure.

Detourbet has won 18 caps and scored five goals for France across the Under-17 to Under-20 age groups, underlining the promise that has followed him through the youth ranks.

The loan deal is understood to run for one season, with the option to extend it for a further year, and includes an option to buy included in the terms agreed between the two clubs.
