Crystal Palace are considering a January move for Botafogo pair Danilo and Álvaro Montoro as their recruitment operation assesses a possible double deal.

The Eagles have already been monitoring Danilo, with head scout Alessandro Brito confirming that the midfielder remains under observation. Montoro has now emerged as another player being assessed by the club.

Crystal Palace have started work on the possibility of signing the pair during the January 2027 transfer window, with the scouting operation led by Brito understood to be involved, stats Gazeta Botafogo.

The report says initial conversations have begun, although there is no suggestion that a formal offer has been made for either player.

Danilo’s situation has attracted attention for some time. Brito recently indicated that Palace had been following the midfielder on a game-by-game basis, giving the latest report greater significance.

Montoro would represent a newer addition to the club’s thinking. The 19-year-old Argentine joined Botafogo in 2025 and has developed into an important attacking player for the Brazilian side.

The attacking midfielder has also attracted interest from other European clubs, but his contract situation could make a January deal difficult. Montoro renewed his agreement with Botafogo in August and is now tied to the club until December 2030.

Gazeta Botafogo reports that Palace are assessing whether a joint operation for the two players is financially viable. The pair have previously been discussed together in a potential move to Nottingham Forest, although that proposed deal did not go ahead.

The figures discussed in that earlier operation provide an indication of the scale involved. Around €19 million was reportedly being considered for Danilo, with a further €14 million discussed for Montoro.

Palace therefore have more than a straightforward scouting decision to make. Danilo is already known to the club’s recruitment team, while adding Montoro would turn the interest into a substantially larger operation involving two young Botafogo players.

The January window is now the target under consideration. Palace will have to decide whether their interest develops into formal negotiations and whether Botafogo would be prepared to discuss a package involving both players.

For now, the information points to assessment rather than an agreed deal, but Palace’s interest in Danilo and Montoro gives Botafogo another Premier League recruitment story to monitor.
