Manchester City goalscoring prospect Matty Warhurst is poised to leave the club, with a number of sides jostling for his signature.

The 19-year-old centre forward has been prolific through City's youth system, scoring 61 goals in 97 games.

Now in the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, Warhurst is looking to make a breakthrough into senior football.

Competition for places is fierce at Manchester City, with some of the best forwards in the world ahead of him in the pecking order.

As a result, Warhurst is weighing up offers from Stockport County, Swindon Town, Cambridge United, Northampton Town and Burton Albion, who have all made their interest known.

City staff regard Warhurst as a cool and calm finisher.

In his debut season with the club's under-18s, he provided 24 goals and two assists in 30 appearances.

A year later, he scored 26 goals and added five assists in 40 appearances.

One of his 15 league goals that season was the decisive strike against Derby County, which saw City crowned Under-18 Premier League North champions.

Injury curtailed his playing time last season, but Warhurst recovered to manage 10 goals in 742 minutes in Premier League 2 football.

City are likely to include a sell-on clause in any negotiations, with the club rating Warhurst highly despite recognising it is hard to see a clear pathway into the first team for him.

Warhurst was handed his first professional deal after standing out at Under-18 and Under-21 level, where his consistent scoring form marked him out as one of the more promising forwards in City's development squads.

Born in Stalybridge, Warhurst joined the City academy in 2019 and signed his first professional contract with the club ahead of the 2024-25 season.

City's academy has produced a string of first-team players in recent years, including Phil Foden, Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb, though the pathway into the senior squad remains extremely difficult to break into.

A move away from the Etihad would give Warhurst the senior football he is chasing, with five clubs now in the running to secure his signature this summer.
