Estupiñán has struggled since moving to AC Milan, and Iwelumo believes the uncertainty surrounding the club's plans for the left-back has contributed to the pressure on him.
“For me, Amorim arrives and, from my point of view, everything depends on the coach and that relationship, and that relationship practically doesn't exist!”
Iwelumo questioned whether Milan have made Estupiñán feel wanted after reported summer discussions involving Aston Villa.
“Amorim can't arrive at Milan and take his time to make a decision on a player when there are other options on the table!”
He believes leaving the defender uncertain over his status makes his performances more difficult.
“And then leave the player in a sort of ‘no-man's land’, without knowing whether he is wanted. Consequently when he plays, there is much more pressure and there are more expectations on him.”
Iwelumo acknowledged that Estupiñán must still perform despite the circumstances but believes Milan have a responsibility to create the right environment.
“But this is football and you have to make sure you are able to perform even in difficulties. Milan is a huge club, there are expectations to improve, to play in a certain way and to win matches.”
“I think Pervis has a huge role to play in that team. And I also think that the coach, the staff and the club itself haven't really taken care of him.”
