The 19-year-old Brazil international joined Chelsea from Palmeiras in the summer of 2025 after establishing himself as one of the most highly rated young players in South American football.
Estevao has made 42 appearances for Chelsea since arriving in London, scoring eight goals and providing four assists.
His playing time has become more limited under new head coach Xabi Alonso, however. He has played only 23 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.
That lack of involvement has prompted speculation over Estevao’s future, including reports that Barcelona are monitoring his situation.
There have also been reports that the player is unhappy with his current position at Chelsea, but Alonso has publicly insisted that the winger remains part of his plans.
Speaking at a press conference earlier in September, Alonso said Estevao had an important role to play at Stamford Bridge.
“One hundred per cent, he has an important role. Thanks to his potential, because he is so young,” Alonso said.
“But he is in that process of adapting and learning quickly and the season will be long.”
According to football.london, sources within Chelsea have confirmed that the club has no plans to part company with Estevao.
The winger is under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2033, giving Chelsea significant control over his long-term future.
Estevao arrived at Chelsea with major expectations after his performances for Palmeiras and has already shown his ability in the Premier League, despite the reduced role at the beginning of Alonso’s tenure.
His limited league minutes have nevertheless fuelled questions over whether his development could be affected if he remains out of the regular starting picture.
Barcelona’s reported interest adds another dimension to the situation, but Chelsea’s current position is that Estevao remains an important part of their long-term plans.
Alonso’s comments also indicate that the manager sees the teenager’s current period as part of his adaptation to English football rather than a reason to move him on.
With Estevao tied to Chelsea for another seven years, there is no indication from the club that his current lack of Premier League minutes will lead to a change in his status.
