Vasco da Gama have rejected a €10m offer for teenage defender Breno Sales as Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City monitor the Brazilian prospect.
The interest has been reported by Brazilian journalist Gustavo Tutinha, although the identity of the club behind the rejected bid has not been established. The three Premier League clubs are understood to be watching the player rather than having made a confirmed offer for him.
Sales, who was born in November 2009, is a left-footed defender who has developed into a centre-back after beginning his football education as an attacker and later playing at left-back.
Despite still being 16, Sales has already spent significant time playing above his age group. He has featured for Vasco's Under-20 side and represented Brazil at Under-17 level, including as a starter at the South American Championship.
Vasco's decision to reject the €10m proposal reflects the regard in which the club holds the teenager. The Brazilian side has shown that it is prepared to protect young players rather than accept an early offer simply because it is substantial.
He signed his first professional contract with the Rio de Janeiro club in 2025, having joined the academy in 2023.
Sales also has a title-winning record at youth level. He helped Vasco win the Copa do Brasil Under-17 in 2025 and was part of the squad that won the Brazilian Under-20 championship in 2026.
His development has therefore attracted attention well beyond Brazil, with his ability to operate at centre-back and left-back adding to his appeal. Vasco's decision to retain him despite the size of the reported offer suggests the club expects his value and contribution to increase.
The Under-17 World Cup in November could provide another opportunity for Sales to attract international attention. Brazil's plans for the tournament mean European scouts will have another chance to assess a defender already competing against older players.
For Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City, the interest is consequently at an early stage. Sales remains a Vasco player, with his development in Brazil continuing while the Premier League trio keeps track of his progress.
