Cesc Fàbregas has gained another attacking outlet on the right flank after Como completed a season-long loan for the Brazil international, with a buy option reportedly set at around €20m on top of a loan fee in the region of €2m.
The Lombardy club had been chasing the move for some time, and Fàbregas made no secret of his delight once it was confirmed, praising the qualities Couto brings to the squad in comments carried by the club's official website.
"He is a brave and technically strong player who gives us different options on the right side," the Como coach said.
"He likes to play forward, has great energy and fits well with the way we want to play. He is still young, but he has already gained important experience and we believe he can continue to grow with us."
Born in 2002, Couto began his career at Coritiba before moving to Manchester City in 2020. He went on to gain experience with Girona, Braga and Borussia Dortmund, joining the German club permanently in 2025.
A dynamic and technically gifted player capable of operating anywhere along the right flank, Couto brings experience from the Bundesliga, the Champions League, the Europa League and the Club World Cup. At international level, he won the FIFA Under-17 World Cup with Brazil in 2019 and made his senior national team debut in 2023.
The right-back struggled for regular minutes at Dortmund last season, making just four brief substitute appearances after March as Julian Ryerson established himself ahead of him in the pecking order, and the move to Como offers an opportunity to reclaim consistent first-team football, with Champions League football also on the table this season for the Lombardy club.
Couto himself set out his ambitions after putting pen to paper: "I am very happy to be here. I really like the team's style of play and philosophy, and I hope I can help it improve further. I believe this is an important step in my career, and I can't wait to get started."
The deal represents another significant summer addition for Fàbregas, who has been strengthening his squad ahead of a campaign in which Como will feature on the European stage.
