Real Betis struggled to impose themselves before the interval, while Celta Vigo found it harder to maintain their intensity as the game progressed. Both teams created opportunities, but neither could find the breakthrough.
Pellegrini considered the result a fair reflection of the contest.
“It was a fair draw,” the Betis manager said. “They were superior in the first half. We did not have a good first half, even with the ball. They had a couple of dangerous situations as clear as our two chances.”
He added: “In general terms, if we analyse the 90 minutes, I think one point is fair for each team. One half for them and the other for us.”
Pellegrini was pleased that both sides had tried to play constructively rather than prioritising defensive security.
“Unfortunately, there cannot always be goals, but these are two teams that play to win,” he said. “They try to give priority to the technical side and are more about building than destroying. It was an entertaining match, with chances at both ends.”
The Betis coach also explained his decision to start Nelson Deossa in an advanced role rather than begin with Troy Parrott, who had recently played four international matches in three weeks.
“I did not want to throw Parrott in before he was ready,” Pellegrini said. “They play with three centre-backs, and the idea was to arrive from the second line, but we did not have much attacking volume.”
He added: “Troy has just played four games in three weeks with his national team and we have to manage his minutes. In general, the team performed within expectations.”
Pellegrini was encouraged by the contribution of his substitutes, including Dani Ceballos, Pablo Fornals and Álvaro Fidalgo. He also backed Antony to improve after missing opportunities.
“He is very aware that he has to improve,” Pellegrini said of Antony. “He had bad luck in situations he could not convert. We have to manage him in the best way, but he will always be a contribution for us.”
Giráldez, meanwhile, felt fatigue had significantly affected Celta after their midweek exertions.
“There was a very noticeable difference between the first half and the second in every aspect linked to energy,” he said. “We played too many long balls because of fatigue. We lacked a little energy to sustain the press, and in the second half it was very difficult for us to move the ball around.”
Although dissatisfied with the second-half performance, Giráldez accepted the point.
“The second half did not please me. We showed character and held on with a well-worked low block in most situations,” he said. “The point is good and fair.”
He praised Betis as “a team of the highest level” and highlighted Celta’s defensive consistency.
“Seven league matches without defeat speaks of that reliability,” Giráldez said.
