Brown won't rule out Bayern move but insists World Cup is his only focus

Nathaniel Brown has declined to dismiss reported interest from Bayern Munich but made clear he will not be distracted by transfer talk as he prepares for his first major tournament with Germany's World Cup squad.

The 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt left-back, who was born in Amberg to an American father and German mother and made his senior international debut in October 2025, has become one of the summer's most discussed transfer targets after a strong second Bundesliga season that drew attention from across Europe.

"I read about it too, of course," Brown told the Abendzeitung München when asked about Bayern Munich's interest. "But right now I want to focus on the World Cup. What comes after that, I'll see then. My full focus is on the World Cup."

Sport1 reported earlier this month that Bayern had already held a formal meeting to explore a move for the defender, driven in part by Alphonso Davies' persistent injury problems throughout the 2025-26 campaign. The Munich club view Brown as a long-term solution at left-back. Frankfurt are reported to be valuing him at around €65 million, a figure that has been described in some German media as Bayern's potential ceiling for the deal.

Brown's contract with Frankfurt runs until 2030, and he was direct about his connection to the club and city.

"I feel super comfortable, also in the city — I have friends there," he said. "After two and a half years here, I've really arrived. I genuinely enjoy it."

His season returned four goals and six assists across 42 appearances in all competitions, and he has played his way into Germany's 26-man squad for the World Cup. Former Nürnberg academy product Brown moved to Frankfurt in January 2024 after eight years at the Bavarian club, who retained a sell-on clause of between 10 and 13 percent — meaning a sale this summer could generate several million euros for his former club.

Bayern's interest is real. Whether Brown is ready to leave a club where he is settled and valued, in a summer where his focus is on the biggest tournament of his career, is a different question entirely.
