The Netherlands international was forced off during the first half of his country's Nations League match against Germany approximately two weeks ago, raising concerns about the severity of the problem.
Brobbey returned to England immediately to begin his rehabilitation with Sunderland. He was ruled out of Saturday's Premier League meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion, but Le Bris expects the forward to be available again before long.
The Sunderland manager explained that the initial footage had raised fears of a significant injury, although the player himself was less concerned.
βAfter seeing the footage, we did briefly think it might be a serious injury, but Brobbey said straight after the match that it was nothing major,β Le Bris said.
The striker had experienced a similar problem previously and was confident that the latest setback would not keep him out for an extended period.
βHe said he has had this injury before. He assured us it is nothing serious. We are taking no risks with him, but it certainly will not take long,β the manager added.
Sunderland will nevertheless be cautious with the 24-year-old as he works towards a return. With a demanding run of fixtures ahead, the club will want to ensure that Brobbey is fully ready before bringing him back into the side.
His absence is a setback given the impact he has made since arriving at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland signed the striker from Ajax for a reported β¬20 million in the summer of 2025, and he quickly established himself as an important part of the team's attack.
Brobbey has scored three goals in five Premier League appearances this season, demonstrating his value to Le Bris's side.
The injury came during international duty, with the forward unable to complete the Netherlands' encounter against Germany. His immediate return to England allowed Sunderland's medical staff to begin assessing the problem and managing his recovery.
Le Bris's update offers encouragement that the setback will not significantly disrupt Brobbey's season. However, the manager's decision to rule him out against Brighton underlines the club's intention to avoid aggravating the hamstring problem.
Sunderland will now monitor his progress over the coming days, hoping to have the striker available again as the Premier League schedule intensifies.
