Those two deals alone are expected to cost the club more than €100m, leaving Bayern Munich needing player sales to balance the books.
That is where the club's problems currently lie. According to Kicker, Bayern have already told four players they no longer feature in the club's plans: Joao Palhinha, 30, recently on loan at Tottenham; Bryan Zaragoza, 24, on loan at Roma; Sacha Boey, 25, on loan at Galatasaray; and goalkeeper Alexander Nubel, 29, on loan at Stuttgart.
Bayern are hoping to recoup between €50m and €60m for the quartet combined.
The issue is a lack of genuine buyers. Where interest does exist, such as Tottenham's interest in Palhinha, the report suggests the receiving clubs are looking to negotiate the fee down rather than meet Bayern's valuation.
Compounding the problem, only Nubel was selected for the World Cup, meaning the other three have no platform on the biggest stage to advertise themselves to potential suitors this summer.
Bayern now risk being left with a group of unwanted players on the books. The club has spent around €90m in total on Palhinha, Zaragoza, Boey and Nubel, meaning a transfer loss already looks unavoidable, though Bayern are working to keep that loss as small as possible.
Centre-backs Min-jae Kim, 29, and Hiroki Ito, 27, are also free to leave, though there is reportedly no urgency around their departures. Bayern are said to be seeking around €20m for each of the two defenders.
The situation reflects a broader squad-management challenge facing Bayern this summer. Having committed heavily to incoming transfers in pursuit of Kompany's vision for the squad, the club now needs outgoing business to move at a similar pace, but finds itself negotiating from a position of relative weakness given the lack of competing interest in several of the players it is trying to offload.
