Bayern Munich have reportedly resumed discussions with JJ Gabriel’s representatives over a possible move, as uncertainty grows around the 16-year-old Manchester United prospect’s future.

Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Bayern Munich are in contact with the youngster’s camp, although the German club have not made a formal offer. The lack of a definitive response from Gabriel is understood to have prevented Bayern from advancing their interest further.

Gabriel has been linked with a departure from Manchester United in recent weeks, with reports suggesting the highly rated teenager is considering his options. Several leading European clubs have been associated with a potential move, including Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Bayern are now among those exploring the possibility of signing him, but the reports suggest Spain could be the more likely destination if Gabriel decides to leave England. Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to be leading the race.

A move is reportedly being considered for the January transfer window, although no agreement has been confirmed and Manchester United remain keen to retain the young forward.

Gabriel’s situation is attracting attention because of his reputation as one of the club’s most promising academy players. His potential has made him a target for major European sides, who are increasingly competing to recruit elite young talent before they establish themselves in senior football.

For Bayern, contact with the player’s representatives represents an opportunity to explore whether a deal is possible. However, without a clear indication of Gabriel’s intentions, the Bundesliga club have yet to formalise their interest.

Manchester United face a difficult decision if the teenager does seek an exit. Retaining him would protect a significant academy asset, while losing him to a European rival would be a setback for the club’s youth development plans.

The reported interest from Spain adds another complication, given the appeal of joining either Real Madrid or Barcelona at an early stage of a player’s career.

For now, Gabriel’s future remains unresolved. Bayern are continuing to make contact, but the lack of an offer and the reported preference for a possible move to Spain mean the situation could change considerably before January.

Manchester United will hope to persuade the teenager to stay, while Bayern and the Spanish clubs will be watching for a clearer indication of his plans.
