Nmecha, 25, has been one of the most watched players at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, having scored in Germany's opening 7-1 win over Curaçao and performed well against Ivory Coast.
His form on the world stage has accelerated a transfer conversation that had already been building throughout the Bundesliga season.
Bild reports that Dortmund have set an asking price of at least €120m for this summer, with the club under no contractual pressure to sell. Nmecha signed a new deal until 2030 in March, which includes a release clause — but that clause does not activate until 2027, when a fee of €80m applies, falling to €70m in 2028.
Among the clubs in contact alongside Bayern Munich are Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid. Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Barcelona have also been linked in recent weeks.
Nmecha himself is reported to be open to a summer departure if the right offer materialises, with intermediaries understood to have been sounding out the market on his behalf.
Bayern's approach appears to be exploratory at this stage. Eberl is understood to view Nmecha as a "very interesting player" but the timing of any move may hinge on how the summer develops for both clubs.
Nmecha joined Borussia Dortmund from Wolfsburg for €30m in 2023 and has since made over 100 appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals.
