The Germany international joined Bayern from Bayer Leverkusen and enjoyed a prominent role during his first season in Bavaria. However, the situation has changed in the current campaign, with Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae increasingly preferred in central defence.
Tah has made 10 appearances so far this season, but has been left out of the starting line-up for several important matches, including the Champions League meeting with Arsenal. His reduced involvement has raised questions about whether he remains satisfied with his role.
The defender was asked about the competition for places and made clear that his focus was on being ready whenever selected.
“The coach decides who starts. What is much more important is how I deal with it and that I am prepared,” Tah said.
According to TZ, his representative Pini Zahavi was present at the Champions League match against Arsenal, after which a meeting reportedly took place between the agent and Bayern officials. The precise subjects discussed have not been confirmed, although Tah’s situation is understood to have been a possible topic.
Upamecano remains a regular choice, while Kim has moved ahead of Tah in the competition to partner the Frenchman. The German defender’s performances have also reportedly fallen short of the level he showed during his first campaign at the club.
Tah did return to the starting line-up for the German Cup victory over Magdeburg, with Bayern Munich winning 6-1, but that opportunity came amid changes to the defensive selection.
There has been no indication that Bayern are preparing to sell the 30-year-old or that a departure is imminent. Nevertheless, the reported meeting has increased speculation about his longer-term future if his playing time does not improve.
For now, Tah’s public message remains one of professionalism and readiness. His response suggests he intends to compete for his place, but the balance of selection at Bayern will be important in determining whether the defender considers a change of club.
