Bayern Munich have ruled out a move for Erling Haaland, with chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen insisting the club already have the world’s best striker in Harry Kane.

Haaland has been linked with a possible departure from Manchester City amid speculation over the consequences of the club’s financial case. Potential sanctions have prompted reports that leading players could become available, bringing Bayern back into the conversation surrounding the Norway international.

Dreesen, however, made clear that the Bundesliga champions are not considering a move.

“We have Harry Kane, the best striker in the world, and an attack that is second to none in Europe. Therefore, the question does not arise for us at all,” he said in comments reported by Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast.

The Bayern Munich executive was also asked whether the club could afford a transfer for a player of Haaland’s value. He responded by pointing to the club’s recent recruitment from the Premier League.

“We have proved that we can afford it. We can sign Premier League players. We showed that with Kane, we showed it with Luis Díaz, we showed it with Michael Olise,” Dreesen said.

Bayern’s signing of Kane from Tottenham in 2023 demonstrated their willingness to spend heavily on an established forward. Díaz and Olise have also arrived from English clubs, reinforcing Dreesen’s point that the Bundesliga side can compete financially for leading Premier League talent.

His comments nevertheless distinguish financial capacity from transfer intent. Bayern may have the resources to pursue a player such as Haaland, but Dreesen’s message was that the club do not see a need to strengthen in that position while Kane leads their attack.

The Norwegian has previously been linked with Bayern before moving to Borussia Dortmund and subsequently Manchester City. The latest speculation has revived the possibility of a future move to Germany, particularly if City face serious sporting or financial consequences.

For now, however, Dreesen has publicly dismissed the prospect of Bayern entering the race. The club’s priority remains their existing attacking group, with Kane regarded as central to their plans rather than a player whose position needs to be challenged by another marquee striker.
