Arsenal and Chelsea, however, are still considered better positioned to complete a deal.
Christian Falk of Bild reported Bayern Munich's interest, adding further competition to a race that already featured Arsenal as the primary suitor, with Chelsea also tracking the player. Rogers scored 14 goals and contributed 12 assists in 55 competitive appearances this season as Aston Villa won the Europa League and finished fourth in the Premier League.
Falk also reported that Bayern are monitoring Gabriel Martinelli of Arsenal, the 24-year-old Brazil winger who is expected to be made available for sale after losing his starting position at the Emirates Stadium.
Bayern's interest in Martinelli is described as real but conditional — they are not yet ready to meet the approximately €45m asking price, which is causing them to look at alternatives. Rogers, similarly, comes with a substantial price tag given Villa's own firm valuation of over £100m.
Any deal for Rogers is further complicated by a 20 per cent sell-on clause held by Middlesbrough, from whom Villa signed him for an initial £8m in January 2024. A sale above £100m would trigger a payment of approximately £20m to the Championship club — a structural factor in any negotiation.
Villa remain firm in their desire to keep Rogers. Emery has won his fifth Europa League title and is preparing for a second Champions League season, and does not want to lose his most creative forward.
