Bayern hold talks over Brown as Frankfurt's missed Europe bid drops price

Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have held a formal meeting with Nathaniel Brown's representatives to explore a summer transfer, accelerating their pursuit of the 22-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt left-back in response to recurring concerns over Alphonso Davies's fitness.

The meeting, confirmed by Sport1, took place on Monday and was the most concrete step yet in a pursuit that began in earnest last autumn. Brown is under contract at Eintracht Frankfurt until 2030 and was previously valued by the club at €65m. Frankfurt's failure to qualify for any European competition next season has increased the pressure to sell and may push that figure down.

Brown joined Frankfurt from FC Nürnberg in 2024 and delivered one of the most impressive breakout seasons of any Bundesliga defender in 2025-26, contributing four goals and six assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

He has earned three senior caps for Germany and is in contention for Julian Nagelsmann's World Cup squad as second-choice left-back behind Leipzig's David Raum.

Davies suffered an ACL tear that kept him sidelined for the majority of last season before returning, only to sustain two further muscle injuries that left him unavailable for Bayern Munich's end-of-season run-in. The uncertainty around his long-term availability has made the left-back position one of the club's clearest priorities for the summer.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG and Liverpool have all been linked with Brown in recent months, though Bayern's formal approach places them at the front of the queue for now. The player is understood to be flattered by the interest and has not committed to a destination.

Frankfurt are expected to hold firm on their valuation unless a club moves quickly and significantly. A bidding war, as with Hugo Larsson, remains a realistic outcome.
