Bayern Munich signed the right-back from Galatasaray for around €30 million in January 2024, but he has never established himself at the Allianz Arena and spent the second half of last season back on loan at the Turkish club.
Galatasaray had the option to make that move permanent for a reported €15 million but ultimately declined, reportedly because Süper Lig rules limiting foreign players left them unable to accommodate him alongside other priority signings, sending Boey back to Munich this summer despite Bayern's clear wish to move him on.
"We have been very clear from the start and over the past four months," Eberl said, according to Bild, when asked about Boey's situation.
"There are still possibilities, so let's see what happens."
The comments confirm that Bayern's efforts to offload the 25-year-old, alongside fellow fringe players Bryan Zaragoza and João Palhinha, have continued throughout the transfer window without a resolution.
Boey's contract with Bayern runs until the summer of 2028, giving the club little urgency to accept a below-value offer, but his lack of a pathway into Vincent Kompany's side means a permanent exit remains the most likely outcome eventually. He made 38 appearances for Bayern across his time at the club, scoring once and providing five assists, and won the Bundesliga and German Super Cup during that spell, but has fallen behind other options in the right-back position.
Bayern are believed to be holding firm on a valuation in the region of €15 million, unwilling to accept a significant loss on their original outlay despite the player's struggles to make an impact in Munich.
Eberl's comments came as part of a wider round of remarks on Bayern's fringe players, with the sporting director having previously stated that the club remains open to moving on Zaragoza and Palhinha as well should suitable offers emerge.
With the European transfer window now closed in most major markets, any departure for Boey would need to wait either for a market still open elsewhere or be revisited when trading resumes in January, leaving the Frenchman in limbo for at least the first half of the season regardless of Bayern's stated intentions.
