However, Barca face competition from Flamengo, Real Betis and Como, who had an earlier bid rejected.
Kaiki attracted Barcelona's attention through a combination of consistent performances in Brazil's Serie A and a call-up to Carlo Ancelotti's senior Brazil squad ahead of the World Cup. Hansi Flick's coaching staff have monitored the player closely, with Kaiki's left-footed profile and comfort in possession-based build-up play fitting the demands of Barcelona's system.
The player made 36 appearances for Cruzeiro this season, contributing six assists from the left flank, and has now been a regular starter at the club for two full seasons after alternating between the first team and the bench in 2024.
Cruzeiro's position is firm. The club have set €15 million as their opening asking price and rejected a lower approach from Como earlier in the year. Their owner, businessman Pedro Lourenço, has been explicit internally that any sale must reflect the player's growth trajectory and not be rushed by the volume of interest. Kaiki's international release clause is reported to be in the region of €60 million, providing the club with significant leverage in any negotiation.
Flamengo have moved most aggressively among the Brazilian clubs, making direct contact with the player's camp and proposing a contract through to 2031. Real Betis have been tracking Kaiki since January, and Konur noted the Seville club is also attempting to make its case.
Kaiki joined Cruzeiro from their own academy and was part of the Brazil under-20 side that won the CONMEBOL South American Championship in 2023. He also participated in that year's Under-20 World Cup and was included in the under-23 squad that narrowly failed to qualify for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Barcelona's left-back situation — with Alejandro Baldé's injury record a persistent concern — has pushed the club to look for cover and eventual competition in the position. At €15 million, Kaiki would represent far better value than the profile of player typically available at that price in the European market.
