Atlético Madrid linked with Chelsea striker Nicolás Jackson

Atlético Madrid's business in this window is not yet finished, with forward Nicolás Jackson the latest name to be linked with a move to the Metropolitano.

The Chelsea striker has been mentioned by RMC Sport's Fabrice Hawkins, though there is no advanced negotiation at this stage. What does seem clear is that Atletico Madrid continue to explore alternative attacking options as the transfer window enters its closing stages.

Alexander Sørloth's injury, which will rule him out of the start of the LaLiga season with a muscle strain, has reduced Diego Simeone's options up front and forced the club to stay alert in the market.

Jackson would fit the type of opportunity Atlético are looking for. The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he scored eight goals and provided three assists. His youth, room for further development and ability to play across multiple attacking positions are all qualities that make him an appealing option.

In any case, Atlético's broader transfer strategy remains unchanged. Sporting director Mateu Alemany is working with the idea of bringing in two more profiles before the window closes: a forward to play alongside Julián Álvarez, Alexander Sørloth and Arnau Ortiz, who has now been incorporated into the first-team squad, as well as a winger capable of unbalancing defences out wide.

For now, Jackson's name is simply one of many appearing on the club's radar of possible attacking additions. The Senegal international has previous experience of Spanish football during his time at Villarreal.

Atlético continue to monitor the market and weigh up their options as the deadline approaches.

Jackson began his professional career at Villarreal before a €37 million move to Chelsea in 2023, where he has scored a combined 24 goals across his two seasons in England prior to his loan switch to Bavaria last September.

His versatility, having played as a lone striker as well as in wider forward positions during his career, adds further weight to the idea that he could slot into more than one role within Simeone's attacking setup should a move materialise before the deadline.
